League of Legends Lecture

League of Legends Lecture is a course in which students examine and analyze League of Legends, a popular video game and cultural phenomenon, from a variety of perspectives including gameplay, eSports, psychology, and game design. Students will spend class time learning about these topics and will apply them to their own gameplay outside of class through weekly homework assignments.

Jew and the small crew of artists and interns he was working with at Riot spent most of their free time playing League, as well as DOTA and other games, even as they worked on the project’s many characters. They were sucked into the world of Summoner’s Rift as much as the players who populated the fictional space they created, and their play became their work.

As time went on, the core team started to fracture. Some members were focused on creating a DOTA clone as quickly as possible, while others wanted to build a more complex and innovating experience. These ideals clashed and eventually led to the departure of three of the four original members of the core Riot team.

For those who wish to reach high levels of skill or compete in League, the road of improvement is long and requires a commitment of time and energy similar to that needed to achieve a top level in any other competitive activity such as academics or sports. To do so, it is important to recognize that the game functions as a system of discrete linear optimization systems similar to a complicated math problem and to approach it with this mindset from the start, learning one fundamental aspect at a time before moving on to another. 롤대리
